¹¹ 私は今、罪を悔い改める者たちに水でバプテスマを授けている。しかし、まもなく私など比べものにもならない、はるかに偉大な方がおいでになる。その方のしもべとなる価値さえ、私にはない。その方は、聖霊と火でバプテスマをお授けになり、 ¹² 刈り入れの時が来たら、麦ともみがらをふるい分け、麦は倉に納め、もみがらは永久に消えない火で焼き捨ててしまわれる。」 ¹³ そのころイエスは、ガリラヤからヨルダン川へ来て、ヨハネからバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けようとされました。 ¹⁴ ところが、ヨハネはそうさせまいとして言いました。「とんでもないことです。私こそ、あなたからバプテスマを受けなければなりませんのに。」 ¹⁵ しかしイエスは、「今はそうさせてもらいたい。なすべきことは、すべてしなければならないのです」とお答えになり、ヨハネからバプテスマを受けました。 ¹⁶ イエスが、バプテスマを受けて水から上がって来ると、突然天が開け、イエスは、神の御霊が鳩のようにご自分の上に下るのをごらんになりました。 ¹⁷ その時、天から声が聞こえました。「これこそ、わたしの愛する子。わたしは彼を心から喜んでいる。」
